ʻOʻopu
Remembering the waters that raised us.
Remembering the waters that raised us.

We were inspired by the moʻolelo of the ʻOʻopu, born in the kahawai of Hawaiʻi, carried by the current out to sea, and called home again.
No matter how far the moana takes them, they remember where they come from. Against the current, over stone, through changing waters, they find their way home.
Like the ʻOʻopu, we too may be carried far from the places that shaped us. Yet something within us remembers, the ʻāina, the wai, the kaiāulu, the moʻolelo.
We find our way back to Hawaiʻi, our home.
We are driven to document the many moʻolelo of our people, through the many forms and methods of expression.
Moʻolelo of place connects moʻokūʻauhau, waiwai and nohona. This becomes the wahi kūpuna that then dictates lawena of place.
Our people are smart. Every generation has knowledge to share. Our keiki are lucky and yet burdened with finding their identity.

Your support and contributions will give the youth the necessary tools to create a better future for everyone
